What is Temperature?

Temperature is a physical quantity that expresses hot and cold.

Temperature is important in all fields of natural science, including physics, chemistry, Earth science, astronomy, medicine, biology, ecology and geography as well as most aspects of daily life.

What is Unit Temperature?

 The most common scales are the 

        A.   Celsius scale (formerly called centigrade, denoted °C),  

        B.   Fahrenheit scale (denoted °F), and the 

        C.   Kelvin scale (denoted K)

 

Type of Temperature Sensor

      1.    Thermocouple

       2.    Thermo meter

       3.    Thermostat

       4.    RTD

  Thermocouple:- A Thermocouple is a sensor used to measure     temperature. Thermocouples consist of two wire legs made from different metals. The wires   legs are welded together at one end, creating a junction. This junction is where the   temperature is measured. When the junction experiences a change in temperature, a voltage   is created. Work in see back Effect.

Type of Thermocouple With Temperature Reference 

Determine of Temperature

A. Measure the “VD” mill voltage as shown above.

B. Measure the actual temperature of the reference junction with a thermometer.

C. Go to the table for the thermocouple being used and look up the millivoltage produced at that temperature.

D.Add that millivoltage to the millivoltage measured as “VD” to get a total.

E. Find that millivoltage total in the reference table. The corresponding temperature is the temperature of the measuring junction.
